Collaboration between R.J. Katamsi Gallery and Jogja Disability Arts Presents Disability Artists from 12 Countries

Galeri R.J. Katamsi and Jogja Disability Arts collaborated to organize Jogja International Disability Arts Biennale #2 from 13 to 21 October 2023, at Galeri R.J. Katamsi ISI Yogyakarta. This international exhibition was opened by Dr. Dante Rigmalia, M.Pd., as Chairman of the National Commission on Disability. On October 13, 2023 at 15.00 WIB until completion. The opening of the international exhibition was attended by the Vice Rector III of ISI Yogyakarta, representatives of the Bantul Regency Government, artists with disabilities and invited guests.

Jogja International Disability Arts Biennale #2 will feature works by 54 artists from 12 countries apart from Indonesia. The artworks will include 2-dimensional artworks, videos and installations. There are at least 74 artworks that have passed the curatorial process from domestic and international curators such as Budi Irawanto (UGM, Indonesia), Vina Puspita (UK), Matthew Clay-Robinson (York University, USA), Sukri Budi Dharma (Jogja Disability Arts, Indonesia) and Nano Warsono (ISI Yogyakarta, Indonesia).

The collaboration between Galeri R.J. Katamsi, Jogja Disability Art and successful partners Jogja International Disability Arts Biennale #2 was also enlivened with various activities such as international seminars and workshops. The theme of the international seminar was "Creativity, Agency, Connectivity" with speakers such as Budi Irawanto (Researcher, Gadjah Mada University) Mathew Clay-Robinson (Director York Gallery, US), Winda Karunadita (Indonesian Disability Artist), Ruth Fabby, MBE (Consultant, UK), Andrew Bolton (Disability Artist, UK). Workhop organized to enliven this exhibition is "Drawing Blocking Technique" workshop with Ruang Anak Community.

Jogja International Disability Arts Biennale #2 is open to the general public and free of charge. This exhibition shows that disabled artists are able to work like other artists.
