Research is a process that demands full commitment from the researcher, requiring a lot of time, deep thought, and adequate funds, facilities, and infrastructure. Addressing complex problems and gaining a deeper understanding of various phenomena are the main objectives of research.
Research improves human capital through the continuous development of skills and knowledge. By incorporating new innovations and technologies into the academic curriculum, research also helps to improve the quality of education.
Indirectly, research also contributes significantly to community service. Applied research results can support regional and national development efforts by providing solutions to social, economic, and environmental challenges.
In addition, research is also a vehicle for lecturers to provide real examples to students of the application of science, technology and art in real life. Thus, research is not only an academic obligation, but also the main foundation in carrying out the second dharma mission of higher education, namely to create and disseminate knowledge for the progress of the nation and society.
Research activities at Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta are driven and organized by the Research Institute. Under the auspices of the Rectorate, this institution is responsible for organizing, coordinating, monitoring, and assessing the various research activities of ISI Yogyakarta.
With funding support from the Special Allocation Fund (DIPA) ISI Yogyakarta and assistance from external sources such as DRTPM Kemdikbudristek, Indosiana, BRIN, and Kedaireka, we conduct research activities covering various fields of art.
Our studies not only aim to record and preserve the heritage of traditional arts, but also to encourage innovation and experimentation in contemporary art, with a focus on arts and cultural development. We ensure that each study is well executed and has a positive impact on the advancement of art and society as a whole through active involvement in managing the necessary resources.
Therefore, the Research Institute of ISI Yogyakarta is committed to becoming an excellent art research center and maintaining its position as the main supporter of the development and empowerment of art in Indonesia.
