Student Organization

A. Definition

  1. Student organizations are a forum for students to develop their student capacity in the form of aspirations, initiations, or positive and creative ideas through various activities that are relevant to the goals of national education and the vision and mission of the higher education institute itself which works organizationally.
  2. ISI Yogyakarta's student organization is an intra-college organization that can accommodate the substantial needs of student activities.
  3. ISI Yogyakarta student organizations are formed at the institute, faculty and department levels.
  4. The form, completeness, and nature of student organizations at ISI Yogyakarta are determined based on agreement among students and do not conflict with applicable laws or regulations.

B. Position, Function, and Responsibility

  1. The position of intra-college student organizations is a non-structural completeness in higher education organizations that work based on self-established systems and rules.
  2. The function of student organizations as a forum
    • Student representatives who can accommodate and channel student aspirations, determine program outlines, and carry out various activities that have been determined.
    • Communication of ideas between students
    • Development of students' potential and identity as complete and intact academic persons.
    • Development of organizational, management, and leadership skills.
    • Coaching and developing leadership skills that can potentially become the nation's cadres in the future.
    • Maintaining and developing science, art, and technology based on academic norms, ethics, morals, religion, and a national perspective.
  3. The responsibility of student organizations to the degree of freedom and work mechanisms in all activities/programs that have been determined must be:
    • Always uphold moral values and akadenic values.
    • Keeping the mandate earnestly.
    • Maintaining and sustaining the continuity of the organization that he/she is in charge of.
    • Maintain the image of ISI Yogyakarta as a leading university.

C. Student Organization

ISI Yogyakarta has several student organizations that are recognized and actively carry out their activities, namely:

  1. BLM (Student Legislative Body) as a student organization that supervises and advises student organizations in their activities, makes procedures for conducting elections for the Head of the Student Executive Board of the Institute (BEMI), and advocates for students who encounter problems on campus.
  2. BEMI (Student Executive Board of the Institute) is a student organization at the institute level, and is the student representative at the college, functioning:
    • Accommodating and channeling student aspirations, proposals, suggestions, and opinions, to institute leaders.
    • The coordination and communication center between student organizations, including the planning and implementation of extracurricular activities at the institute level.
    • Planning and consolidating the program lines of student activities at the institute level.
    • Develop student and human resource management skills.
  1. BEM (Student Executive Board) as a faculty-level student organization, functions:
    • Conducting student co-curricular and extracurricular activities, especially in the fields of interests, talents, and student welfare in accordance with the aspirations of students channeled through existing organizations.
    • Develop knowledge, attitudes, and skills of student activity management.
  1. HMJ (Department Student Association) as the coordinating body for the implementation of student activities in the department.
    • The Department Student Association serves as a student forum which is a complement to the department.
    • The main task of HMJ is to organize extracurricular and co-curricular activities that are reasoning in accordance with the department's study program.

The number and form of student organizations can increase or decrease according to student needs and existing conditions. Opportunities to open student activities on an SME scale are opened if they have a clear concept/program and are supported by students in the three faculties. Some co-curricular / extracurricular organizations formed by several department students such as Student Activity Groups (KKM) remain under the coordination of HMJ, Coaching Department Heads and Assistant Dean III in each faculty.
