The global pandemic caused by Covid-19 has affected many sectors of life, including the creative industry and performing arts. During the Covid-19 pandemic, dance performances were no longer allowed to be performed offline. Even dance performances for tourism activities were stopped. This situation ultimately requires dance actors to behave and act more creatively. Dance artists began to utilize Youtube or other social media platforms as a space to hold dance performances and communicate their creative ideas.
This condition certainly requires the world of higher education to rethink the right strategy and model of dance education, so that it can produce human resources who have the competencies and skills needed to adapt to change, and thus can survive the global crisis due to the Covid-19 pandemic. To build the resilience of the performing arts (dance), several key competencies are needed, including (1) the ability to build a community of spectators, (2) mastery of digital competencies, (3) competence in marketing and communication, (4) mastery of new management of performing arts, and (5) competence in fundraising.
To conduct a deeper observation and study of various contextual issues in the world of performing arts (especially dance), the Dance Study Program, Faculty of Performing Arts ISI Yogyakarta intends to organize The 2 nd International Dance Conference and Festival (IDCF) 2021 which will be held online from 28 to 30 October 2021 on the ISI Yogyakarta Campus.
