Yogyakarta, April 23, 2026 — The Faculty of Recorded Media Arts (Fakultas Seni Media Rekam - FSMR) of the Indonesia Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta, in collaboration with the Embassy of Peru, will be holding a “Peruvian Film Screening” on Tuesday-Wednesday, April 28-29, 2026, in the Audio Visual Room, Dean's Office of FSMR ISI Yogyakarta. This event is open to the public and free of charge, serving as part of efforts to expand the space for appreciation, learning, and international dialogue in the fields of art and filmmaking.
The event opening will commence with a special screening of the Peruvian film titled “Jepang” on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. Following the screening, the activity will continue with a discussion session with guest filmmaker Jhon Alexander Arróspide Linares, which is expected to be a forum for the exchange of ideas between filmmakers, students, lecturers, and the film-loving public.
Besides the opening film, viewers will also be treated to seven other Peruvian films, namely Las Mejores Familias (2020), Reinas (2024), La Herencia de Flora (2024), Deliciosa Fruta Seca (2019), La Pena Máxima (2022), Wiñaypacha (2019), and Manco Cápac (2021). The presence of these diverse films presents a rich spectrum of Peruvian cinema, ranging from themes of family, identity, history, to socio-cultural realities.
The organization of the “Peruvian Film Screening” affirms FSMR ISI Yogyakarta's commitment to providing learning experiences that extend beyond the classroom, while also opening students' access to global cinema developments and cross-cultural practices. This activity also demonstrates ISI Yogyakarta's capacity as a higher education institution for the arts that actively builds an open, collaborative, and internationally oriented academic and artistic ecosystem.

Collaboration with the Embassy of Peru also shows that ISI Yogyakarta is increasingly trusted as a strategic partner in the development of cultural diplomacy. Through forums like this, the campus not only becomes a venue for screening works, but also a space for international dialogue that brings together artistic perspectives, creative experiences, and cultural knowledge on a vibrant academic stage.
For students, this activity is a valuable opportunity to expand their visual references, understand cinematic approaches from different cultural contexts, and engage in direct dialogue with international film practitioners. For the general public, this event serves as a space for appreciation that enriches their understanding of Latin American cinema through selected works from Peru.
By presenting this program, FSMR ISI Yogyakarta once again demonstrates its role as an important hub for art education in Indonesia that continues to move forward, expand its global network, and present quality activities that strengthen ISI Yogyakarta's position at both national and international levels.
“Peruvian Film Screening” will take place on April 28-29, 2026, in the Audio-Visual Room, Faculty of Arts, Music, and Design, ISI Yogyakarta, and is free and open to the public.
