ISI Yogyakarta has collaborated with TikTok and Tokopedia. This collaboration is realized in the form of supporting the design of new batik motifs for batik MSME players involved in TikTok and Tokopedia. To strengthen this collaboration, ISI Yogyakarta, on this occasion represented by the Faculty of Fine Arts ISI Yogyakarta, signed a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) with TikTok and Tokopedia on Monday, February 05, 2024, at the Tentrem Hotel Yogyakarta. The signing was carried out by Muhamad Sholahuddin, S.T., M.T. as Dean of FSR ISI Yogyakarta and accompanied by the Rector of ISI Yogyakarta, Dr. Irwandi, M.Sn., while Tik Tok was represented by Stefani Susilo as Executive Director of Tik Tok E-commerce and Tokopedia was represented by Melisa Siska Juminto as director of Tokopedia.
The Cooperation Agreement will oversee the collaboration between the Craft Department, Faculty of Fine Arts, ISI Yogyakarta with TikTok and Tokopedia which collaborates into Shop | Tokopedia. Craft Department students will become designers who will prepare new batik motif designs for craftsmen or sellers for batik affiliated with Shop | Tokopedia every month. Every month new motifs will be available for batik MSME players affiliated with Shop | Tokopedia.
This new motif will certainly attract people to buy batik produced so as to encourage the growth of MSMEs in Yogyakarta, Solo and Pekalongan. Every month students who act as designers will discuss with sellers about characteristics, market preferences, fashion trends and then design batik motifs which are sent in digital format to craftsmen or sellers to produce these motifs into batik cloth and clothes.
With this collaboration, there will be no market saturation due to the unavailability of batik motifs that suit market tastes and trends. Every month there will be new motifs available that are ready to be applied to batik cloth or wedge. With this effort, it will help the country's MSME players to increase sales and accelerate their business.
