YOGYAKARTA, April 14, 2026 — Indonesian Institute of the Arts Yogyakarta has achieved a strategic milestone at the international level after eight study programs from two faculties officially received international accreditation from Foundation for International Business Administration Accreditation (FIBAA), an internationally oriented accreditation agency for higher education based in Bonn, Germany. The six study programs from the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design (FSRD) that received accreditation are Interior Design, Visual Communication Design, Product Design, Fine Arts, Crafts, and Art Management. Meanwhile, two study programs from the Faculty of Recorded Media Arts (FSMR) that also received similar recognition are Photography and Film and Television.
This achievement serves as an important indicator that the quality of arts, design, and recorded media education developed by ISI Yogyakarta is not only relevant at the national level but also meets internationally recognized assessment standards. Amidst increasingly fierce global competition in higher education, this success reinforces ISI Yogyakarta's position as an art higher education institution capable of delivering academic quality, governance, and learning orientation comparable to the best global practices. Institutionally, the FIBAA accreditation decision is determined through FIBAA. Accreditation and Certification Committee on March 27, 2026.
The strategic value of this achievement is further strengthened when considering FIBAA's own position in the international higher education quality assurance landscape. On its official website, FIBAA emphasizes that it is an internationally oriented European higher education quality assurance agency, with work based on European Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Higher Education. In program accreditation, FIBAA assesses five main areas: program objectives and positioning, student admission process, curriculum content and structure, academic environment, and quality assurance and continuous development systems, with particular attention to the internationality and employability of graduates.
For ISI Yogyakarta, this recognition carries a much broader meaning than just an administrative achievement. FIBAA international accreditation shows that higher education in the arts at ISI Yogyakarta develops with a quality foundation that is measurable, transparent, and globally comparable. Thus, ISI Yogyakarta not only appears as a center for artistic creation and cultural development, but also as an academic institution that is ready to compete in the international higher education ecosystem. This achievement also strengthens the message that ISI Yogyakarta continues to move as a globally competitive arts campus that places academic quality, curriculum relevance, and graduate readiness as top priorities. In the context of developing institutional reputation, the achievement of FIBAA opens wider space for strengthening international networks, increasing public trust, and strengthening ISI Yogyakarta's bargaining position as one of the main references for higher education in the arts in Indonesia at the world level.
