Rector of ISI Yogyakarta Opens Technical Guidance on Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence

The Rector of ISI Yogyakarta, Dr. Irwandi, M.Sn. opened the Technical Guidance (Bimtek) for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence on Friday, December 8, 2023, at the Grand Zuri Malioboro Hotel Yogyakarta. The Bimtek was held for two days on December 8 and 11, 2023, starting at 08.00 to 16.00 WIB. The Bimtek presented speakers from Rifka Anisa and Gadjah Mada University and was attended by the ISI Yogyakarta Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling Task Force and representatives from several partner universities.

The Technical Guidance began with singing the Indonesia Raya song, remarks from representatives of the ISI Yogyakarta Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling Task Force, Remarks from the Rector of ISI Yogyakarta and Submission of Technical Guidance materials. In his remarks, Joanes Catur Wibono, M.Sn. as a representative of the ISI Yogyakarta Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling Task Force said that this Bimtek was held as an effort to clarify the framework for preventing and handling sexual violence at ISI Yogyakarta, after obtaining clarity of the framework, further socialization will be carried out so as to minimize the occurrence of sexual violence at ISI Yogyakarta. In line with what was conveyed by the representative of the ISI Yogyakarta Sexual Violence Prevention and Handling Task Force representative, the Rector of ISI Yogyakarta said that ISI Yogyakarta will continue to be committed to the prevention and handling of sexual violence and organizing Bimtek is one form of this commitment.

On the first day, the material was delivered by Lisa Oktavia, SH about further examination of victims of sexual violence. After the delivery of the material the event continued with FGDs on the preparation of draft SOPs and Policies for the Prevention and Handling of Sexual Violence by the PPKS Task Force Team ISI Yogyakarta. On the second day the material presented included the urgency of psychological support after the incident and during the examination by Istiqomah Yungsiana, S.Psi, M.Psi., the concept of gender is important for the prevention of sexual violence by Dr. Dewi H. Susilastuti, and material on the mechanism of steps for making SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures) and policies in handling and preventing sexual violence in higher education by Sri Wiyanti Eddyono, S.H., LL.M (HR)., Ph.D. Hopefully the implementation of this Bimtek will clarify the handling and prevention of sexual violence at ISI Yogyakarta.
