ISI Yogyakarta Holds Seminar on the World of Collections

On October 3, 2019, the Faculty of Fine Arts ISI Yogyakarta will hold a seminar entitled "COLLECTION WORLD: The Upstream and Downstream of Artwork Ownership". This seminar is motivated by the existence of creative objects as items of ownership. Artworks in the form of paintings, sculptures, graphics, crafts, batik, jewelry, as well as functional products and a number of event items can become very valuable collection objects. The extent of appreciation and management of these creative objects will be studied interestingly.

So when art objects are in the collection room, a number of questions arise: How does the art work process from upstream to end up in the hands of the collector? What is the function of collecting? How is it organized and managed? What is the art infrastructure in Indonesia related to collecting? Are there any crucial problems (such as the phenomenon of counterfeiting or copying artworks) that hinder these processes? How to anticipate them?

This means that the seminar, which is only limited to 150 people, will examine issues of art production (involving artists), appreciation (collectors), infrastructure and art management (curators, historians, lecturers, observers). Many related subjects in all fields of art science are on this agenda. A number of speakers ranging from collectors, curators and lecturers, art mediators who are part of this process were presented. The upstream and downstream of art ownership in Indonesia is currently not much discussed at the national level academically. This is the uniqueness of this seminar.

In connection with this seminar, the organizers also invite the public to submit writings that will later be published in the book KELOLA ART #2. This book will be circulated during the seminar. The theme of the writing must be in accordance with the topic of the seminar above. We will wait for your writing until August 31, 2019. Greetings culture.
