Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts, Singapore (NAFA Singapore) conducted an Overseas Immersion Program at the Faculty of Performing Arts (FSP) ISI Yogyakarta, from July 3 to 18, 2024. For 3 weeks in Yogyakarta, NAFA Singapore students will learn Javanese culture, karawitan and gamelan music. At the end of the program, NAFA Singapore students will perform to show the results of the learning process while at ISI Yogyakarta.
The Overseas Immersion Program is a 3-week cultural and educational engagement program, organized by an academic institution, with the aim to broaden students' horizons and approach to the arts and to learn and experience the practice of theatre and other traditional arts. Through this program, NAFA Singapore hopes that students will be able to learn about Indonesian arts and culture, especially Jaya culture.
The Overseas Immersion Program is carried out as a form of implementation of cooperation between the two institutions. ISI Yogyakarta and NAFA Singapore have collaborated and are covered by the MoU that has been drawn up. This kind of activity has been carried out for two consecutive years. Hopefully this collaboration will always produce productive activities for both institutions.
