UPT Laboratorium Seni and Concert Hall Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta in collaboration with the Karawitan Department and the Ethnomusicology Department of the Faculty of Performing Arts ISI Yogyakarta organized a Traditional Music Performance with the theme "Tradition Music, Sparking Youth Creation". This traditional music performance will be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023 at 19.30 WIB at the Art Laboratory Building, Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta.
The performance featured seven repertoires from lecturers and students of Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta, namely Lingkung Lembur by Cepi Irawan, Talu Masjolo by Aji Santosa Nugroho, Tetalu Abreg by Sukotjo, Kinasih by Ribeth Nurvijayanto, Maha Muda by Bayu Setiaji, Padahal by Krismus Purba and M Yoga Supeno, Paripurna by Suhardjono. This performance was supported by one hundred and seventy-five musicians. The diversity of traditional music works performed is expected to increase public appreciation of art. This performance will further emphasize the existence of art, both academically and in the creative industry.
This performance was held to commemorate the Youth Pledge Day. The youth oath is a form of recognition of diversity and utilizing this diversity into a common strength in gaining independence. Traditional music in Indonesia is very diverse and one form of appreciation for the efforts of the youth involved in the youth pledge is to love the art of traditional music in Indonesia. This ethnic music performance is open to the general public and is free of charge.
