ISI Yogyakarta Hosts the Opening of ASEAN Panji Festival

ISI Yogyakarta hosts the Opening of the ASEAN Panji Festival which is marked by a Panji Collaboration Performance on October 13, 2023, at the ISI Yogyakarta Art Laboratory, at 7:30 pm. The Panji Collaborative Performance involves artists and dancers from 9 countries, namely Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam. This collaborative performance is based on the story of Panji (Inao), a romantic epic that exists among ASEAN countries.

The Panji Collaboration Performance is part of the ASEAN Panji Festival series that will take place from October 7 to 28, 2023, in the cities of Yogyakarta, Kediri, Malang, Surabaya, Pasuruan and Solo. In addition to collaborative performances, the festival is also enlivened by the organization of international seminars, workshops, children and youth panji competitions.

This panji festival is an annual agenda organized as an effort to preserve panji stories within ASEAN countries. Unlike the previous years' festivals that featured panji performances based on each country's version of the story, this year the participating countries collaborated to perform one collaborative performance of the panji story.

Activities held during the ASEAN Panji Festival 2023 are open to the general public and free of charge. Let's celebrate this festival and invite your family, friends, and relatives to watch the ASEAN Panji Festival 2023.
