Professor Dr. Drs. Timbul Raharjo M.Hum, Rector of Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta for the period 2023-2027, has passed away due to illness. He passed away on Tuesday, September 5, 2023, at around 5:20 pm at Dr. Sardjito Central General Hospital Yogyakarta.
During his lifetime he was known as an academic, artist and entrepreneur in the field of creative economy. As an academic, he was productive in conducting research, scientific publications and writing textbooks. His ability as an academic in the field of art is recognized at the national and international levels so that he is often a resource person for workshops, seminars both at home and abroad.
His works in the form of sculptures or ceramics can easily be found in public spaces. The Lion Statue in Sleman City Hall, the statues of General Soedirman and Prince Diponegoro in Bantul and the Tegar Jawara Lion Statue are some of his monumental works in public spaces. With his artistic competence, he is also an entrepreneur in the creative economy. The establishment of PT Timboel which is able to absorb a lot of labor and empower the community around Kasongan is proof of his success as an entrepreneur.
The world of art and creative economy in the country lost a person who was able to become a source of inspiration and motivator for young artists and creative economy industry players.
