ISI Yogyakarta in collaboration with the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Jakarta will hold a ballet dance performance entitled "Balloon!" on Saturday, April 24, 2022, at the Art Laboratory, Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta, Jalan Parangtritis Km. 6.5 Yogyakarta. The ballet dance performance titled Balloon! will be performed by Astra Roma Ballet from Italy and the performance starts at 19.30 WIB. The dance titled Balloon! is the latest work from Astra Roma Ballet which will be performed in Yogyakarta, Jakarta and Bali.
Astra Roma Ballet will perform a dance entitled Balloon! In two parts 'A new world' choreographed by Fausto Paparozzi and 'Time score' choreographed by Giada Primiano, which will be interpreted together with Laura Guarisco, Giorgia Montepaone, Alessandro Scavello and Alex Provinciali. The work attempts to address current issues such as technological development, the digital transition and its emotional impact on humans. Through the universal language of dance, combined with comic imagery, sound, music and pictures, the performance is a manifestation of the problems found in Western society and the urgent need to restore emotional values.
In addition to the dance performance, there will also be a classical and contemporary dance workshop for ISI Yogyakarta students. The dance workshop will be held at the Department of Dance, Faculty of Performing Arts ISI Yogyakarta on the same date as the dance performance and starts at 09.00 WIB until 11.00 WIB. The workshop that will be given by Diana Ferrara, a "prima ballerina étoile del Teatro dell'Opera di Roma", also as director and choreographer along with Giada Primiano, choreographer and dancer, certainly provides extraordinary cross-cultural value. Diana will give a workshop that focuses on the basic instructions of classical dance and, in particular, on the upper and lower limbs in an academic technique and artistic language that is almost completely unknown, where classical dance is only a form of dance.
interpreted as traditional and folkloristic dance while Giada Primiano will give lessons based on the basic principles of contemporary dance technique and short sequences of movement and improvisation. These workshop lessons are interpreted as a real 'bridge' between East and West. It is an important exchange between two different civilizations that is conveyed through the universal language of dance and Astra Roma Ballet proves this with its works based on
concepts of civilization, interaction and culture.
This dance performance is open to the general public and is free of charge by complying with Covid-19 protocols. People who will watch the dance performance are expected to do e-booking through Eventbrite.
