Ananda Sukarlan, one of the country's famous pianists and composers visited ISI Yogyakarta on Thursday, April 14, 2022. Ananda Sukarlan along with representatives from the Directorate of Film, Music and New Media were received by the Vice Rector I of ISI Yogyakarta, Assistant Dean I of the Faculty of Performing Arts ISI Yogyakarta, Head of UPT Lab Seni and Concert Hall ISI Yogyakarta and several Heads of Study Programs in the Faculty of Performing Arts ISI Yogyakarta. The arrival of Ananda Sukarlan and his entourage aims to discuss the potential for cooperation with ISI Yogyakarta in order to support the orchestra performance at the G20 forum which will be held at Borobudur Temple, on 12 September 2022.
The event began with remarks from the Vice Rector I of ISI Yogyakarta, Dr. St. Hanggar Budi Prasetya, S.Sn., M.Si. in his remarks he expressed his gratitude to Ananda Sukarlan and the team who were pleased to visit ISI Yogyakarta and this visit was an honor for ISI Yogyakarta. The event continued with remarks from representatives of the Directorate of Film, Music and New Media, Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology who conveyed the purpose of the visit to ISI Yogyakarta to collaborate in order to succeed the orchestra music performance at the G20 forum at Borobudur Temple. The next program continued with an explanation from Ananda Sukarlan about the orchestral music that will be performed at the G20 forum and the potential support that ISI Yogyakarta can provide so that the performance will take place successfully. Furthermore, Ananda Sukarlan said that the orchestra performance is a new tradition in the implementation of the G20 and the performance in Indonesia this time will pay attention to gender issues, equality and the orchestra players are representative musicians from G20 members. The meeting in the afternoon ended with a discussion of potential cooperation, namely the utilization of ISI Yogyakarta's Concert Hall for general rehearsal of the orchestra that will perform at the G20 Forum, the implementation of masterclasses with G20 orchestra member musicians and Ananda Sukarlan and selection for ISI Yogyakarta students and alumni to join the G20 orchestra.
With this collaboration, it is hoped that the orchestra performance at the G20 Forum can run smoothly. This collaboration is also expected to be able to add new knowledge and competence in playing classical music for ISI Yogyakarta academicians. Ananda Sukarlan's visit is the beginning of further cooperation.
