The S1 Craft and D3 Batik and Fashion Study Programs, Department of Craft, Faculty of Fine Arts ISI Yogyakarta held a public lecture with the theme "Retro Craft: Opportunities for Young Creators". This public lecture will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021, at 14.00 WIB online using the Zoom Meeting application. The public lecture organized by the Undergraduate Craft Study Program and D3 Batik and Fashion Study Program will present guest speaker Dr. Guntur, M.Hum. (Rector of ISI Surakarta). The implementation of this public lecture will be guided by Dr. Alvi Lufiani, M.F.A. (Head of S1 Craft Study Program ISI Yogyakarta).
Dr. Guntur, M.Hum was chosen as a resource person because he has various capacities, ranging from academics, researchers, writers, cultural observers, and of course craftsmen with various expertise. He has been a lecturer since 1991 in the Craft Department, Art Craft Study Program, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design, Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Surakarta until he finally reached the top position, namely becoming Rector since 2017. He is also quite productive in producing books related to Craft and its development as well as other books on fine arts. Countless of Dr. Guntur's writings are also published in various reputable journals. Of course, the proud thing is that he is an alumnus of the Craft Department, FSRD, ISI Yogyakarta in 1990.
This public lecture was held as one of the implementations of the collaboration between the two institutions in the context of implementing the Merdeka Campus Learning Program and as a form of support for the Craft Department to organize various activities in order to enrich the insights of the younger generation, especially related to the nation's cultural heritage. By attending the public lecture, it is hoped that it will be able to provide insight, especially for the younger generation of prospective craftsmen and academics, to be more enthusiastic and motivated to produce craft works that are not only full of meaning, but also able to follow the flow of the times with organized visuals, and maintain the noble values of the nation's wisdom.
This public lecture is open to the general public, students of S1 Craft and D3 Batik and Fashion Study Programs, FSR ISI Yogyakarta.
