The Department of Art Management, Faculty of Fine Arts ISI Yogyakarta supported by the Institute of Research and Community Service ISI Yogyakarta, Dicti Art Laboratory and Barokah Jaya Art Handler organized the Poster Archive Title "Fine Art Exhibition 20 Years Before Pandemic". This poster exhibition will be held from September 6 to October 6, 2021 at the Department of Art Management FSR ISI Yogyakarta, 3rd Floor Pure Art Building, Jalan Parangtritis km. 6.5 Sewon Bantul, Yogyakarta Special Region.
This exhibition was held in the framework of ISI Yogyakarta's applied research grant 2021. Focused on the display model of paper archives in the form of posters. This research was developed to find out the basics and ins and outs of installing archives that have often had to be presented in glass frames or glass boxes (vitrines). Experimenting with this kind of display model is of course important. It can be used as part of an effort to open up display opportunities that are more economical and easy to implement among related studies (art, museology, history, social, education, archives/libraries) and the general public.
As for the material aspect, the 200 posters presented are related to art exhibition events in Indonesia over the past 20 years or before the pandemic occurred. The goal is to highlight the importance of physical posters on public walls. Unfortunately, during the 2-year pandemic, physical posters have almost disappeared, replaced by digital or virtual posters.
With this exhibition, the unity between technical studies in the context of art management and art and social studies can be summarized. The pandemic atmosphere seems to be the nadir of the existence of physical archives in the form of paper (posters). Will it disappear forever, or will these posters become "works of art" because they appear in the frame of a beautifully processed and attractive document exhibition? Just wait for the answer, after the pandemic is over.
