Building Synergy: Dance Study Program collaborates with Mangunan Tourism Village to strengthen the tourism potential of Yogyakarta Special Region

Yogyakarta is a city of tourism, a city of culture, and a city of students. Yogyakarta with its tourism potential is one of the development sectors in Indonesia, especially in the economic sector. Tourism in Yogyakarta apart from its natural potential is also a culture-based tourism. 

            Yogyakarta with DIY privilege funds has made cultural preservation and tourism in Yogyakarta develop significantly. The role of DIY privilege funds has been widely felt by the community, especially in the tourism sector. These funds are disbursed through various tourism village programs that directly target the wider community. From this program, Yogyakarta has many tourist villages.

Tourism villages usually fulfill all the elements of tourism, namely having potential attractions, such as natural tourism, cultural tourism, and man-made tourism. One of the developing tourist villages in the Bantul area is the Mangunan Village Tourism Village. Mangunan is a leading tourist village with dozens of selected tourist destinations.

ISI Yogyakarta as one of the educational institutions that aims to support and preserve culture, through the Dance Study Program, collaborates with the Mangunan tourism village. This collaboration is a form of effort in the institution's participation in strengthening the cultural potential of the tourist village area in Yogyakarta. As has often been done by ISI Yogyakarta through community service programs through P3WILSEN (Program Pembinaan and Development of Art Areas).

Through a meeting held at the Grand Zuri Hotel Yogyakarta on July 18, 2024, the Dance Study Program collaborated with the Mangunan Village Administration represented by the Mangunan Village Head, Mr. Aris Purwanto. In the agenda of the activity, the signing of the IA (Implementation Arrangement) which contains cooperation between the Dance Study Program and Mangunan Village, namely with Mr. Aris Purwanto as Lurah Mangunan, Dr. Rina Martiara, M.Hum. as Head of Dance Study Program and Dr. I Nyoman Cau Arsana, S.Sn., M.Hum as Dean of the Faculty of Performing Arts ISI Yogyakarta. The Dance Study Program through the MBKM program in the framework of the 2024 Dance Study Program held a collaboration with Mangunan Village with the Dance Student Independent Project activity program. A total of 30 people will be deployed for research, work and activities in the Mangunan tourism village program at the Abhinaya Reksa Buana Festival in September-December 2024.
