The Dayak Customary Council (DAD) is an ethnic organization that is a Dayak customary institution that carries out the duties of the National Dayak Customary Assembly (MADN). It is a coordinating and supervising institution for the District/City Dayak Customary Council, in order to assist the Pamangku Kepala Adat in the field of empowerment, customs development, preserving the arts and daily life of the Dayak people and also customary law.
The Central Kalimantan Provincial DAD is a provincial-level Dayak Customary institution tasked with implementing the MADN work program. Carrying out coordination and supervision functions for all Regency / City Dayak Customary Councils in the Central Kalimantan region.
Dance Study Program students come from various regions throughout Indonesia, not a few who come from the island of Kalimantan. Many of the Dance Study Program students in their Final Project raised objects from their home region, one of which was the Dayak cultural background.
The need for broader knowledge about Dayak customs for lecturers and students, makes the Dance Study Program want to collaborate with the Dayak Customary Council which is considered to know and understand how Dayak culture itself. This is done so that the references from lecturers and students get a valid source of data about Dayak culture and traditions themselves.
Through a meeting held at the Grand Zuri Hotel Yogyakarta on July 18, 2024, the Dance Study Program invited the Dayak Customary Council of Central Kalimantan Province which was attended by the Deputy Chairperson of the Central Kalimantan Province DAD Drs. Walter S. Penyang along with Mrs. Tris Sofia, and Mr. Cendhana Putra. In the agenda of the activity, the signing of the IA (Implementation Arrangement) which contains cooperation between the Dance Study Program and the Central Kalimantan Province DAD and was signed by Mr. Drs. Walter S. Penyang as Deputy Chairperson of the Central Kalimantan Province DAD, Dr. Rina Martiara, M.Hum. as Head of Dance Study Program and Dr. I Nyoman Cau Arsana, S.Sn., M.Hum as Dean of the Faculty of Performing Arts ISI Yogyakarta.
Dance Study Program through the MBKM program in the framework of the 2024 Dance Study Program held a collaboration with the Central Kalimantan provincial DAD with the Dance student internship program. A total of 10 people will be deployed for internships at DAD Central Kalimantan province in September-December 2024.
The scope of activities that have been mapped out are internship and research activities in DAD Central Kalimantan province, especially in Palangkaraya and Barito areas. Tiwah activities in Palangkaraya and Makanjan dance objects will be the research material of the internship students later.
