Bima Arya Putra was born in Bantul, November 8, 1999, Indonesia, active as a dancer, choreographer and traditional arts activist who focuses on preserving the cultural values of the Srandakan community, Bantul. He has completed his Bachelor of Dance study at the Indonesian Institute of Arts Yogyakarta with the Final Project of dance film creation entitled "Godha" in 2022. Bima is currently pursuing a Master's Degree in Dance Creation at the Postgraduate Program of the Indonesian Institute of Arts Yogyakarta. As a dancer, starting at the age of 5 he joined the Ramayana ballet group at the Gabusan art market in Bantul. He actively won various dance competitions at the provincial and national levels from 2008-2020, in addition to being a dancer at the 2011 Melbourne Indonesian Festival. As a dancer and joined Indonesian choreographers Martinus Miroto, and Anter Asmorotedjo, visiting Korea (2015, 2018, 2019), Japan 2018, Frankfurt Germany 2022.
Godha (Temptation) is a dance film that departs from the figure of Buta Cakil in the Kembang war. This dance film work interprets the figure of Buta Cakil as a symbol of the temptation of Sufiyah lust. Sufiyah lust is the lust for worldly pleasures that become obstacles and barriers in humans. The creation of this dance film entitled "Godha" in 2022 is one of the requirements of the Final Project to complete the S-1 Dance study at the Indonesian Institute of Arts Yogyakarta. Through a film cinematography approach, the dance director collaborated with Adith Ath-Thaariq, a student of the S-1 Film and Television Study Program, from production to distribution of the work. In 2023, this dance film received the following awards Promising Filmmaker in IMAJITARI 2023. Then has also achieved Award Winnerin the category of Environment Dance Film at IV International Ecoperformance Film Festival 2024.
IV International Ecoperformance Film Festival
International Ecoperformance Film Festival (IEFF) is an artistic response to the eco-political challenges of the 21st century. The festival incentivizes films that seek to reduce anthropocentric forms of dramaturgy and cinematography. Conceived by Brazilian choreographer Maura Baiocchi and inaugurated in 2021, the festival achieved global resonance by adopting both online and in-person formats. The festival edition received 770 proposals from 81 countries across 6 continents. The curatorial team selected 60 works from 34 countries. To achieve a growing intercontinental presence, the 4th IEFF was held from May 30 to June 30, 2024, in cinemas, universities, theaters, and cultural centers in Brazil, Australia, the United States, Romania, Argentina, and Germany. The 4th Ecoperformance International Film Festival invites audiences to an intercontinental expedition of diversity that brings together geography, ethnicity, culture, language, body, gender, and age. Christoph Winkler, the festival's jury, presented the awards. Award Winner category Environmental Dance Prize on July 3, 2024.
International Dance Film Festival (IMAJITARI) in
Jakarta International Contemporary Dance Festival 2023
The IMAJITARI Festival is a dance film festival program initiated by the DKJ Dance Committee (Jakarta Arts Council) in 2018. Dance film is an extension of choreographic practice related to motion cinematography. In addition to holding a dance film screening program, the IMAJITARI Festival also includes curatorial programs such as special screenings and discussions, envisioning the festival as not just a screening window but also a program that enables critical knowledge exchange. Jakarta International Contemporary Dance Festival (JICON) presents the theme "SPHERE" which invites to reinterpret the body and the space that surrounds it through choreographic practices. The festival was held on November 14-18, 2023 at Produksi Film Negara (PFN), Studio Asrul Sani & Studio Sjuman Djaya and Toeti Heraty Room - Taman Ismail Marzuki, Kedai Tempo - Komunitas Utan Kayu, and Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) University of Indonesia. Since the submission deadline opened on September 15 to October 15, 2023, a total of 849 works from more than 90 countries have been received by the IMAJITARI committee. On November 20, 2023, the work "Godha" (Temptation) get the award Promising Filmmakerat International Dance Film Festival (IMAJITARI) 2023.
