ISI Yogyakarta held a Limited Open Senate Session in commemoration of its 38th Anniversary on Monday, May 30, 2022. The limited open senate session was held at the ISI Yogyakarta Concert Hall Building at 10.00 - 12.00 WIB and was attended by all members of the institute senate and leaders in the ISI Yogyakarta environment. The implementation of this Senate Session marks the opening of the 38th Anniversary of ISI Yogyakarta which is commemorated by organizing various activities such as seminars, exhibitions, workshops and performances.
In the ceremonial Senate Session held to commemorate the anniversary there are two important agendas, namely the delivery of the speech of the Rector of ISI Yogyakarta and the scientific speech of the anniversary. In this Senate Session, Prof. Dr. M. Agus Burhan, M.Hum., as the Rector of ISI Yogyakarta delivered a speech entitled "Art Excellence for Life Recovery". ISI Yogyakarta's 38th Anniversary scientific speech was delivered by Dr. Sumbo Tinarbuko, M.Sn. with the title "Art that Lives and Revives".
In his speech, the Rector of ISI Yogyakarta said that Art as the main advantage at ISI Yogyakarta must be empowered. Various creations, presentations and discourse productions have produced many works that express the values of solidarity, humanity, and the spirit of community empowerment and economy. Art needs to continue to be encouraged so that it becomes an empowerment tool in restoring community welfare. In this speech, the achievements obtained in 2021 were also conveyed so that it became a means of reflection to continue to improve the performance of ISI Yogyakarta.
Not much different from what was conveyed by the Rector of ISI Yogyakarta, Dr. Sumbo Tinarbuko, M.Sn., in his scientific speech said that art has social, cultural and economic functions. The art ecosystem can support anyone who intersects with works of art. Art can be a suggestion for restoring life as it was before the pandemic.
The Rector's speech and the scientific commencement of the 38th Anniversary of ISI Yogyakarta are expected to arouse the awareness of the ISI Yogyakarta academic community and the public that art can be a means for life recovery. Art can be optimized so that humanity can have a better life.
