Wednesday, August 21, 2019, ISI Yogyakarta held an Open Senate Session and Initial Lecture for the 2019/2020 Academic Year. The event took place in the Multipurpose Building of ISI Yogyakarta and was chaired directly by the Rector as Chairperson of the ISI Yogyakarta Senate, Prof. Dr. M. Agus Burhan, M.Hum., and attended by all new students of ISI Yogyakarta Academic Year 2019/2020 from D3, D4, S1, Postgraduate Program and the Yogyakarta State Community Academy of Arts and Culture totaling 1500 students.
On this occasion, the process of wearing alma mater jackets and handing over student cards was symbolically carried out by the Chairman of the Senate to student representatives from each Faculty and Postgraduate Program. After that the event continued with the reading of the Student Promise by all new students. In the promise, all students pledge to reject radicalism and secularism and declare their allegiance to Pancasila.
In his remarks, the Rector of ISI Yogyakarta expressed his appreciation for the commitment of new students to reject radicalism and secularism through a promise that was read directly. According to him, this is a form of seriousness of ISI Yogyakarta to eradicate ideologies that are contrary to Pancasila. "Earlier the new students committed to anti-secularism and radicalism. We have a strong commitment to sustainability, especially seeing the phenomena that have occurred lately. We respect plurality, the campus is the main fortress to ward off radicalism. We are committed to protecting the entire academic community," he said.
ISI Yogyakarta is currently preparing its students to face the era of the industrial revolution 4.0. "The current millennial challenge is on the Human Resources (HR) side with the creativity of mastering technology and developing soft skills. On the other hand, entrepreneurial interests must also be developed so that they are ready to face the challenges of 4.0. We hope that new ISI Yogyakarta students can maximize their potential during the lecture process, "he explained.
After the Open Senate Session was over, the event continued with the Inaugural Lecture for New Students of ISI Yogyakarta Academic Year 2019/2020. On this occasion the inaugural lecture was delivered by Prof. Dr. I Wayan Dana, SST., M.Hum., with the theme "Sustainable Art Innovation for Higher Education in the Era of the Industrial Revolution 4.0".
