Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education Mohamad Nasir and Governor of Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, inaugurated the Yogyakarta State Community Academy of Arts and Culture Building on Saturday, February 2, 2019, on Jl. Parangtritis, Sewon, Bantul Regency. The inauguration was marked by the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation Agreement on the Implementation of the Yogyakarta State Community Academy of Arts and Culture between the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education and the Governor of Yogyakarta.
The Yogyakarta State Community Academy of Arts and Culture organizes Education Outside Domicile (PDD) from the Indonesian Institute of Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta for Karawitan, Craft, and Dance study programs. "So far, vocational education after SMK is vocational education at the Diploma III level. There is a wide gap between SMK education and Diploma III education. To close the gap, Diploma I and Diploma II vocational education was established. The university that educates Diploma I and Diploma II is this Community Academy," said the Minister. The Yogyakarta State Community Academy of Arts and Culture is expected to be able to accept graduates of Vocational High Schools (SMK) to work faster in the arts field.
The event was attended by Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X, Secretary General of Kemenristekdikti Ainun Na'im, Director General of Science and Technology Resources and Higher Education Ali Ghufron, Head of Higher Education Service Institution Region V Bambang Supriyadi and ISI Yogyakarta Rector Muhammad Agus Burhan. Also present were Chairman of the Yogyakarta Regional Representative Council (DPRD) Yoeke Indra Agung, Secretary of Yogyakarta Gatot Saptadi, Head of the Yogyakarta Education, Youth and Sports Agency R. Kadarmanta Baskara Aji, Regent of Bantul Regency Suharsono, Regent of Kulon Progo Regency Hasto Wardoyo, Regent of Sleman Regency Sri Purnomo, and Mayor of Yogyakarta Haryadi Suyuti.
