ISI Yogyakarta Students Present Design Innovations for State Strategic Institutions, Supporting PERURI's Digital Transformation

YOGYAKARTA, June 5, 2026 — The Indonesia Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta once again demonstrates its contribution to addressing public communication challenges through final student projects that integrate design, technology, and community needs. Through the Final Project Examination of the Visual Communication Design (DKV) Study Program, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design (FSRD) for the Even Semester of the 2025/2026 Academic Year, DKV ISI Yogyakarta student, Dimas Fawwaz Putra Arvian, presents an innovation in the form of designing an educational digital platform to support public literacy on national security products.

The work titled “Design of PERURI Product Catalog Website as a Public Information Media” This was born out of the need for an information medium that could bridge public understanding of the role and services of the Public Corporation for Printing the Money of the Republic of Indonesia (PERURI). Previously, most people knew PERURI only as the institution that printed rupiah, whereas this state-owned enterprise has developed into a provider of strategic security technology that plays an important role in the national digital service ecosystem.

Through a research-based visual communication design approach, Dimas developed a catalog website that not only serves as a means of product information but also as an interactive and accessible public education platform. The design presents various innovative features such as a structured product catalog, explanations of document security systems, three-dimensional (3D) product visualization, real-time order simulation, cost estimation calculation, a marketing chatbot, and a verification feature that helps the public understand the functions and characteristics of security products used in daily life.

In its development, this work utilizes the method hybrid which combines the approach Design Thinking and Design Sprint. The method allows the design process to be carried out human-centered, placing user needs at the core of design decision-making. As a result, the designed platform not only offers an engaging visual experience but also simplifies complex information, making it more understandable to the public.

According to Dimas, the project stems from his desire to present a design that has a real impact on society and supports the improvement of public literacy regarding various important state documents.

“I see that many people still know PERURI only as a currency printer. However, PERURI has a much broader role in safeguarding state document security and Indonesia's digital ecosystem. Through this catalog website, I want to present a more open, easy-to-understand information medium that is relevant to the current digital community's habits,” he said.

Furthermore, the work demonstrates how the visual communication design discipline can contribute to national strategic issues. Amidst the acceleration of digital transformation, the ability to transform technical and complex information into informative, inclusive, and easily understandable experiences is becoming an increasingly important necessity for various institutions, including state agencies.

The presence of this work simultaneously demonstrates the character of education at ISI Yogyakarta, which not only focuses on developing artistic creativity but also encourages students to produce solutions relevant to the needs of society, industry, and the public sector. Through a multidisciplinary approach that combines art, design, technology, and research, students are encouraged to produce works that can have a real impact on national development.

The design of the PERURI product catalog website serves as a concrete example of how art colleges can play a strategic role in supporting national digital transformation. Design is no longer understood solely as an aesthetic aspect, but as a communication instrument capable of strengthening public education, enhancing citizens' digital literacy, and simultaneously building more effective relationships between institutions and citizens.

The implementation of the final project examination for DKV FSRD ISI Yogyakarta this year also affirms the campus's commitment to producing graduates who are adaptive to the times. The various works produced by students do not just stop at academic projects, but evolve into innovative ideas that have the potential for real-world application. Through such works, ISI Yogyakarta continues to strengthen its position as a leading art higher education institution capable of producing creative talent with research capabilities, problem-solving skills, and tangible contributions to society, industry, and national strategic institutions.
