Sonus Moventes 2026 Presents Work Analysis and Music Performances, Reinforces ISI Yogyakarta as a Center for Artistic Creation

Yogyakarta, May 12, 2026 — The Music Composition Study Program, Faculty of Performing Arts, Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta, is holding Sonus Moventes 2026, a series of work critiques and music performances that are part of the celebration of ISI Yogyakarta's 42nd Anniversary. This event will take place on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, at the ISI Yogyakarta Concert Hall.

Embracing the spirit of creation, critical reading, and appreciation for musical works, Sonus Moventes 2026 serves as an important space for young composers to introduce artistic ideas and strengthen academic tradition within higher art education institutions. This event not only showcases the results of musical creation but also presents a forum for dialogue through work critique sessions, enabling the public to understand the creative process, concepts, and aesthetic approaches behind each composition.

The Sonus Moventes 2026 event series is divided into two main sessions. The Work Review Session will be held from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM Western Indonesian Time, while the Performance Session will take place from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM Western Indonesian Time. This event is open to the public with a reservation system via bit.ly/SONUSMOVENTES2026. The committee provides free tickets with limited quotas.

As an annual agenda of the Music Creation Study Program at ISI Yogyakarta, Sonus Moventes is one of the important markers in the ecosystem of education, creation, and dissemination of musical works at Indonesia's oldest and most prominent art campus. Through this activity, ISI Yogyakarta continues to demonstrate its commitment to nurturing creators, composers, and art practitioners who are not only technically skilled but also possess imaginative ideas, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to understand contemporary developments.

The presence of Sonus Moventes 2026 also aligns with the theme of ISI Yogyakarta's XLII Dies Natalis, which is “Redefining Arts Impact: Art, Humanity, and Creativity in the Era of Artificial Intelligence.” This theme emphasizes the crucial role of art in responding to civilizational changes, including the development of artificial intelligence technology, without losing the values of humanity and the power of creativity as the core of the creation process.

Through a work-critique forum, composers have the opportunity to explain their ideas, structures, musical approaches, and the context of their creations. Meanwhile, the performance session serves as a space for artistic presentation that brings together works, performers, academics, students, and the general public in a single artistic event. This format strengthens ISI Yogyakarta's position as an institution of higher learning in the arts that not only produces works but also cultivates a reflective and open academic culture.

Sonus Moventes 2026 features a number of composers, including Ramya Shafiqa, Hadi Susanto Haes, Haris Natanael, Dominan Delapan, Krisna Tompo, Royke Pelajar Musik, Alvin Johnny, Gaby Charis, Aldy Maulana, Reza Alexander, Puput Pramuditya, and Hyp Bass. The presence of these composers showcases diversity in ideas, musical characteristics, and new possibilities in contemporary music creation.

This activity is expected to be a space for promotion as well as strengthening the institutional reputation of ISI Yogyakarta as a center for higher art education that actively encourages the birth of new works. By bringing together academic processes, creation, discussion, and performance, Sonus Moventes 2026 demonstrates that art education does not stop in the classroom but is present in the public sphere through works that can be appreciated, read, and discussed together.

Through Sonus Moventes 2026, ISI Yogyakarta reaffirms its position as an art higher education institution that consistently preserves the tradition of creation, develops a creativity ecosystem, and opens space for collaboration between the campus and the community. This activity is part of ISI Yogyakarta's efforts to continuously strengthen its institutional branding as an adaptive, productive, and relevant art education institution in facing the times.
