Yogyakarta, February 10, 2026 - The Postgraduate Program of the Indonesian Institute of Arts Yogyakarta continues to emphasize its role as a center for the development of knowledge and practice of art governance through the Otaks Kanan #4 activity entitled “Curation Behind the Festival”. This forum is presented by students of the Master of Arts Governance (TKS) Postgraduate Program at ISI Yogyakarta and will be held Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 14.30-16.00 WIB at Omah Plaosan by Javena, Klaten.
This activity presents two important figures in the Indonesian art-culture ecosystem, namely Garin Nugroho, film director and festival initiator, and Mikke Susanto, Coordinator of the TKS Study Program. The discussion will be hosted by Cresensia Naibaho, a student of Postgraduate Art Management at ISI Yogyakarta.
With the theme “Curation Behind the Festival”, this forum opens a space for a deeper understanding of festivals as artistic practices and cultural strategies-not just performance stages. Participants will be invited to explore curatorial work from behind the scenes, from selecting works, compiling programs, reading artistic context and direction, to designing relevant and impactful public experiences. Thus, this activity strengthens curatorial literacy while presenting real insights into professional standards in organizing festivals.
According to the organizers, Otaks Kanan #4 is designed as a place to learn directly from the best practices of festival managers and curators, as well as an academic platform that encourages strengthening student competence in curatorial leadership. This initiative emphasizes the commitment of the Postgraduate Program of ISI Yogyakarta in bridging theory and practice, expanding professional networks, and preparing art human resources that are adaptive to the dynamics of the creative and cultural industries.
This event is open to the public who want to see festivals from a side that is rarely talked about: the curatorial process that shapes the quality, direction, and reach of a festival.
