ISI Yogyakarta Strengthens the Role of Impact Campus through Educational Support for Disaster Affected Students

Yogyakarta - The government of the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) is distributing living expenses assistance (living costThe donation is worth a total of Rp. 2,332,800,000 to 1,296 students from Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra who were affected by hydrometeorological disasters. The assistance was symbolically handed over by the Governor of Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, at the Kepatihan Ward, Yogyakarta Kepatihan Complex, Monday (22/12).

The symbolic handover was carried out to 30 student representatives, as part of the DIY Regional Government's commitment to ensuring the continuation of education for overseas students affected by disasters in their home regions.

Yogyakarta Governor Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X emphasized that this step is a form of Yogyakarta's tradition of concern for education. According to him, overseas students must still get optimal learning opportunities despite facing difficult conditions due to disasters.
“We strive so that their goal of studying in Jogja does not break up halfway,” said Sri Sultan.

DIY Regional Secretary Ni Made Dwipanti Indrayanti explained that in addition to education funding assistance, the DIY Regional Government has also sent logistical assistance to the affected areas. Distribution of aid living cost implemented transparently by the DIY Social Service in collaboration with BPD DIY through the Simpeda Peduli account.

Based on the results of data validation conducted by the Yogyakarta Education, Youth and Sports Agency (Dikpora) until December 19, 2025, there were 1,296 students from 52 public and private universities in Yogyakarta who qualified as beneficiaries. The validation process is carried out carefully to ensure accuracy of targeting and completeness of banking administration.

Sri Sultan also expressed his appreciation to universities and all elements of society who have synergized in supporting the continuation of education for affected students.
“Thank you to the universities that make it easy for students to continue their education, both through the foundation and the participation of all citizens. Hopefully this will be beneficial for the continuation of your education,” Sri Sultan concluded.

In line with this, DIY Regional Secretary Ni Made Dwipanti Indrayanti revealed that the DIY Regional Government also encouraged the relaxation of tuition fees and logistical support for dormitories for affected students.
