ISI Yogyakarta Graduates 689 Graduates, Rector Emphasizes Role of Alumni as Agents of Change

ISI Yogyakarta officially inaugurated 689 graduates at the Open Senate Session of the Even Semester Graduation of the 2024/2025 Academic Year which was held at the ISI Yogyakarta Art Laboratory, Thursday (11/9) and Saturday (13/9).

The number consists of 512 Bachelor graduates, 68 Applied Bachelor graduates (D4), 101 Master graduates, and 8 Doctoral graduates. Of the total graduates, 216 earned the cum laude title. Graduates with the highest GPA were Damar Sasongko (Master of Arts, GPA 3.98), Mars Sailendra (S1 Product Design, GPA 3.91), and Dina Karuniasari (D4 Fashion Design Batik Craft, GPA 3.91).

In his speech, the Rector of ISI Yogyakarta Dr. Irwandi, M.Hum. said that the new academic degree held by the graduates was not only a sign of competence, but also the beginning of a great responsibility. "Graduates of ISI Yogyakarta are not only required to be artists who create works, but also agents of change who pave the way for progress. You must be ready to plunge into society, presenting works that are relevant, inspiring, and useful," he said.

Irwandi also emphasized the importance of the role of alumni as ambassadors of art and culture, who bring a positive image of ISI Yogyakarta at the national and international levels. He added that art is not only to be enjoyed, but also plays a role as an economic driver, job creator, and social glue.

In addition to equipping students with artistic competence, ISI Yogyakarta also fosters an entrepreneurial spirit through various programs, such as the Student Entrepreneurship Program (PMW) and soft skills training that is routinely held. "We hope that graduates are not only ready to work, but also able to create jobs," he added.

Ending his speech, the Rector expressed his appreciation to parents, families, lecturers, and education staff who have supported the graduates' academic process. "Congratulations on becoming part of the ISI Yogyakarta Alumni Family. Hopefully you will soon take part in society, succeed in becoming a strong, independent person and an artist who presents creative works that have a positive impact on the nation and the world," he concluded.
