FSRD ISI Yogyakarta Presents Works by Artists from 13 Countries at YICAF#3

The Faculty of Fine Arts and Design (FSRD) ISI Yogyakarta is once again organizing YICAF or Yogyakarta International Creative Arts Festival  on June 21 to August 31, 2025, on the campus of FSRD ISI Yogyakarta. YICAF is a routine agenda of FSRD ISI Yogyakarta and this year is the third organization (YICAF #3) with the theme Art Platform as International Art Conectivity. The exhibition, supported by Project 11 Australia and AIAF, will feature works from artists from 13 countries including Indonesia.

The opening of YICAF #3 was held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at the Plaza FSRD ISI Yogyakarta by the Rector of ISI Yogyakarta, Dr. Irwandi, M.Sn. The opening of this international exhibition was attended by the Head of ISI Yogyakarta, the Head of the Faculty at ISI Yogyakarta, students and artists whose works were exhibited at YICAF #3 and invitees.

This year's YICAF #3 theme is Art Platform as International Art Conectivity . The theme was chosen as a reflection of the efforts of FSRD ISI Yogyakarta to support and realize the goals of Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta as a world-class art university, said the Dean of FSRD ISI Yogyakarta, M. Sholahuddin, S.Sn., M.T. when opening YICAF #3. One of the keys to world class university is the ability to build networks, maintain them, and stay connected to the rest of the world (institutions). The organization of YICAF #3 is an effort to build and maintain existing networks of cooperation.

According to Dr. Suwarno Wisetrotomo, M.Hum. as the exhibition curator and lecturer at FSRD ISI Yogyakarta "Organizing this exhibition is not easy, but it has strategic value". Not easy, because: First, using inner spaces (indoors) that are not all designed and prepared for displaying works. In order to make the space suitable for use, it requires special handling. SecondTo overcome this problem, the committee optimized digital technology, inviting artists and international cooperation partners from ISI Yogyakarta. In other words, works from colleagues abroad in three-dimensional form, for example, are unlikely to be included, because they require more production costs and time. It has strategic value, because it is a good opportunity for FSRD ISI Yogyakarta to strengthen its network; a good opportunity for departments or study programs to display their potential, identity, aesthetic, artistic and intellectual tastes.

YICAF #3 displays the entire potential of art in FSRD and collaborative partners of ISI Yogyakarta which consists of painting, sculpture, graphics, drawing, visual communication design, interior design, product design, photography, animation, crafts (metal, batik, wood, jewelry, keris, fashion), both from active students, lecturers, and alumni. The works, according to their type, will be displayed in each room of the department or study program in the FSRD ISI Yogyakarta campus complex. By watching this exhibition, it can be seen how the development of art higher education institutions and see the development of art in general in the world through the works of artists from foreign partners.
