FSRD ISI Yogyakarta Lecturer Joins Art and Culture Exchange Program in Thailand

FSRD ISI Yogyakarta lecturer, Lutse Lambert Daniel Morin, S.Sn., M.Sn participated in a national and international art and cultural exchange program entitled "Seni Suphanburi, UNESCO City of Music" successfully held on February 21-25, 2025, in Suphanburi, Thailand. The initiative organized by the Graduate Institute of Fine Arts and Suphanburi College of Fine Arts aims to create a joint work between artists, academics, and students who are ready to share learning experiences through the exchange of knowledge in the field of arts and culture, both from within and outside the country. In addition, the practical seminars focused on the creation of contemporary artworks, with the aim of providing opportunities for participants to develop ideas, practice skills, and build a network of art cooperation at an international level. There were more than 19 countries participating in this international event. The countries that participated in this event included Thailand, South Korea, Vietnam, Germany, England, China, India, Austria, Australia, France, India, Singapore, Indonesia, Turkey, Greece, Kazakhstan, Georgia, and Latvia.

The event was opened by Mrs. Yuthika Itsarangkura Na Ayudhya, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Culture (MoC), representative of the Permanent Secretary of the MoC, presided over the opening of the Art and Cultural Exchange Deployment Project and the National and International Contemporary Art Creation Practice Seminar in Suphanburi Province 2025 2nd with the theme "Suphanburi Art, UNESCO City of Music." Also present were Mrs. Kesorn Kamnerdpet, Deputy Director of the Office of Contemporary Arts and Culture (OSCC) who serves as Director of OSCC, Dr. Nipa Sopasomrit, Rector of the Institute of Higher Education for Performing Arts, Assistant Professor Komes Kanthik, Director of Suphanburi College of Arts, Miss Siriwat Saenserm.

At the beginning of the program, participants were invited to explore the richness of local art and culture by visiting art villages in Suphanburi Province. They were treated to a variety of folk art performances and traditional music, which they hoped would inspire them to create unique and authentic artworks that would later be exhibited at the Suphanburi College of Arts.

In addition to the visit to the art village, participants also had the opportunity to view an exhibition of works by previous artists and program participants. The event was enlivened by the presence of Mr. Chuan Likphai, an important figure who witnessed performances of Khon (traditional Thai mask dance), Ramkiat from Suphanburi College of Dance, as well as Esaw and contemporary music from Som Ying Sri Prachant and youth from Sanguan Ying School. Mr. Chuan Likphai expressed his appreciation and encouragement to the artists and program participants. Mr. Gomes Kanthik, director of Suphanburi College of Fine Arts, presented photos of works from the first international project, which was by Professor Samyot Khamsaeng. He wanted to thank and appreciate the works that had been produced from the previous project.

This activity was closed on February 25, 2025. The project closing ceremony was attended by Ms. Thanida Arun Chay, Director of the Cultural Strategy and Supervision Group, and her staff who had been assigned to attend the closing ceremony on behalf of Ms. Nisit Kan Khun Watcharakit, Head of the Suphanburi Provincial Cultural Office. The closing ceremony was also attended by Mr. Chuan Leekpai, former Speaker of Parliament and former Speaker of the House of Representatives.
