The collaboration entitled "The Overseas Immersion Program #2" between two Departments at NAFA Singapore and ISI Yogyakarta took place on July 16 & 19, 2024. This agenda was held at the Department of Art Management (Art Governance), Faculty of Fine Arts (FSR) ISI Yogyakarta building and was lively.
The Overseas Immersion Program between Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA) and Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta (ISI Yogyakarta), opened by Department Head Dr. Mikke Susanto M.A. and remarks from NAFA lecturers, offers a unique opportunity for students to expand their artistic horizons and deepen their understanding of cultural diversity. The program facilitates a dynamic exchange of ideas and techniques between the two prestigious institutions. It also fosters collaboration and creativity among students and faculty.
In this agenda, 2 activities were held. The first was "International Lecture Panel" which was held on July 16, 2024 at 12.30-15.00 WIB at TKS Building, Faculty of Art and Design, ISI Yogyakarta. The speakers were Dian Ajeng & Rr. Vegasari Adya (ISI Yogyakarta lecturers), Shafa Salsabila & Luna Chantiaya (ISI Yogyakarta students).
The other panelists were Desiree Low, Stephanie Lem Zin Jie, Althaea Grace Wangko, Paige Nicole Low (Liu Peisi), Finna Kwang, and Abby Qistina Binte Yusra (NAFA Singapore student). The moderator of this panel was A. Sudjud Dartanto, who is a lecturer in the Department of Art Management, FSR ISI Yogyakarta.
The panel talked about art management in social media, Affandi museum's educational media, NAFA students' curatorial projects, art for inclusion, and protest murals in Yogyakarta. Each panelist presented a diverse presentation, with interesting audio-visual media. It felt like the 3 hours went by so fast.
The second activity was "Woodcarving Workshop with Syahrizal Pahlevi" which was held on July 19, 2024, at 09.00 - 13.00 WIB. Syahrizal Pahlevi is an artist who is a teaching practitioner in the S1 Art Management Study Program who is also a well-known graphic artist in Indonesia. This training took place at the Department of Art Management (TKS), Faculty of Fine Arts and Design (FSR), ISI Yogyakarta.
The agenda, which was also attended by Prof. Gunalan Nadarajan (Professor at the Penny W. Stamps School of Art and Design University of Michigan), was also carried out with the ISI Yogyakarta International Unit. It is hoped that this second collaboration agenda will further strengthen the relationship between institutions. In the future, both institutions will increasingly focus on various interesting research possibilities and art project collaborations.
