The Department of Karawitan, Faculty of Performing Arts (FSP) ISI Yogyakarta will hold a 24-hour performance on Wednesday - Thursday, May 21-22, 2024 at the ISI Yogyakarta Art Laboratory, at 09.00 WIB - finished each day. Pergelaran 24 Jam Menabuh is a marathon / continuous performance or performance of internal, local, and national musical groups for 24 hours with various forms of presentation, both tradition, creation, and innovation. The performance is held annually in order to maintain and elevate the dignity of Javanese musical arts to the world level.
In 2017, this performance was one of the phenomenal events about participation, commitment and existence of musical activities in Yogyakarta and even in Indonesia at that time so that it was recorded in the Indonesian Museum of Records by taking the momentum of the commemoration of the fourth anniversary of the launch of the Voyager II unmanned satellite launched in America on September 5, 1977 orbiting in space carrying a recording of Gending Ketawang Puspa Warna in Slendro Pathet Manyura by Sri Paduka Mangkunegoro IV recorded in 1971 at Kadipaten Pakualaman by Langen Praja Pakualaman under Pengageng Ki Cokro Warsito. The event was attended by thousands of pengrawit / gamelan players of Yogyakarta and Surakarta styles, consisting of 29 groups consisting of 5 professional karawitan groups, 3 children's karawitan groups, 5 women's and young women's karawitan groups, 3 middle and high school karawitan groups, 12 karawitan groups from various universities and 1 hadroh group from Kulonprogo.
This year the 24 Jam Menabuh performance was held on May 21-22, 2024. The selection of the performance date because on May 21 is the commemoration of Village Civilization Day, so that the implementation of 24 Jam Menabuh is also a form of ISI Yogyakarta's participation to support and be part of the preservation and development of village civilization and archipelago culture for the advancement of superior Indonesian culture.
