The collaboration of the Capacity Building Program for Undergraduate Art Management Students of ISI Yogyakarta with Novita Riatno Management (NRM) has been established specifically through a Solo Exhibition of Paintings by Balinese artists: Ida Bagus Putu Purwa. This collaboration was completed with the signing of the Cooperation Agreement (PKS) and Implementation of Arrangement (IA) on the ISI Yogyakarta campus on March 13, 2024 between the Dean of FSR witnessed by the Head of Department / Study Program S1 TKS, Dr. Mikke Susanto, M.A. and Director of NRM, Maria Novita Riatno.
The exhibition titled "LEPAS KALA" is not just an art exhibition. This agenda also provides more benefits related to the presence of students to improve the quality of organizing exhibitions. In this collaboration, 11 students (from ISI Yogyakarta, UNY, UIN & UNUD) worked together with managers, curators, art handlers as committees at the exhibition which was held on January 25-31, 2024.
The solo exhibition "LEPAS KALA" became an intimate stage, where the painter Ida Bagus Putu Purwa conveyed ideas, emotions, and thoughts through works that became a direct channel to interact with the souls of art lovers. From this conception, students can learn the aesthetic grids of the works, and also learn to display them at Sonobudoyo Museum Yogyakarta. The exhibition, which has been visited by more than 3,000 people, is also a means of training for students to practice publication and promotion work that has been learned on campus.
During their collaboration, the students have also learned valuable lessons related to display, security and safeguarding of works, public relations, merchandise management, curatorial, and others. In particular, NRM Director Maria Novita stated that the recruitment of students in this exhibition was very helpful. "Our work is certainly greatly facilitated. The students, especially from Arts Management, provided pleasant assistance and the results were good," said Maria Novita.
The results of this collaboration have at least provided valuable opportunities for students. At least it has provided additional flight hours or portfolios for the younger generation in the future. This inaugural collaboration program will thus trigger other activities. NRM itself will continue to develop arts management training for a wider audience in the future. Therefore, the collaboration program of Kampus Merdeka this time will be a pilot project that will be further developed in several regions.
