Department of Fine Arts FSR ISI Yogyakarta Organizes Drawing Exhibition "Sowing Hope"

The Department of Fine Arts, Faculty of Fine Arts (FSR) ISI Yogyakarta held a drawing exhibition with the theme "Sowing Hope" from 27 to 29 November 2023. The exhibition was opened by Prof. Dr. M. Agus Burhan, M.Hum. Professor of Art History at ISI Yogyakarta. The opening of the exhibition was attended by lecturers of FSR ISI Yogyakarta, students, winners of the drawing competition and invited guests.

The theme of this exhibition is taken from the theme of the 2023 National Drawing Competition, which is "Sowing Hope: Youth, Climate and Technology". Young people are the main actors who will face and overcome the complex challenges facing the world, especially in two very crucial aspects: "Climate" and "Technology." Young people have unprecedented access to information sources and technologies that allow them to collaborate, share ideas, and deliver their messages to the world. Technology can be used as a tool to solve climate change-related problems and share solutions globally. Through this theme, the competition invites students to reflect on their role as future heirs in the face of climate change and utilize technology as an effective tool to address this challenge. The theme encourages them to think critically, create solutions, and spread awareness of environmental and technological issues to a wider audience.

The works in this exhibition are mostly selected works from the National Student Drawing Competition organized annually by the Department of Fine Arts FSR ISI Yogyakarta. This competition is open to all undergraduate and diploma students from various universities in Indonesia. Participants came from various campuses, namely: Alma Ata University, ISI Yogyakarta, ITB Bandung, University of Education Indonesia, Jakarta State University, Sebelas Maret University Surakarta, Surabaya State University, Yogyakarta State University, Esa Unggul University, UIN Walisongo Semarang, Brawijaya University, Darul Ulum Higher Islamic Boarding University, KH. Ruhiat Cipasung Islamic University / Cipasung Islamic Institute, UIN Sunan Kalijaga. A total of 20 works were selected by a selection team consisting of lecturers and alumni of ISI Yogyakarta. The selected works were exhibited together with the works of the lecturers of the Department of Fine Arts FSR ISI Yogyakarta as an effort to foster intergenerational encounters through work.
