ISI Yogyakarta Craft Lecturer Conducts Ceramics Workshop and Exhibits Work at Muang Korn Contemporary Art Galery

Lecturer in Craft, Faculty of Fine Arts (FSR) ISI Yogyakarta, Dr. Arif Suharson, S.Sn., M.Sn. became a resource person for ceramic workshops and exhibited works at Muang Korn Contemporary Art Galery, Thailand, from August 1 to 6, 2023. This international exhibition and workshop was attended by ceramic artists from 5 countries namely Thailand, Korea, Australia, Singapore, and Indonesia. This international exhibition and workshop will feature ceramic works with traditional techniques from each country.

Dr. Arif Suharson, S.Sn., M.Sn. exhibited two ceramic works produced from traditional Indonesian techniques at the exhibition titled Mokhalan. He also presented his concept and creative process in front of artists from Thailand, Korea, Australia, Singapore, and Indonesia. Artists from various countries took turns to make presentations related to the concept of work and creative process in the creation of works. This forum provided an opportunity for artists to exchange knowledge.

By participating in this forum Dr. Arif Suharson, S.Sn., M.Sn. also had the opportunity to visit the Mokhalan traditional pottery center filled with discussion sessions with SMEs in Mokhalan. This visit allowed Dr. Arif Suharson, S.Sn., M.Sn. to gain additional knowledge related to traditional ceramic making techniques and SME management in Thailand.
