Students of the Dance Study Program, Faculty of Performing Arts ISI Yogyakarta won first place for the traditional dance category in the regional championship organized by the Indonesian DanceSport Sports Association (IODI) Yogyakarta Special Region and the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI) Yogyakarta Special Region. The Dance Study Program students who succeeded in making achievements as the first winner of the traditional dance category were Rizky Amalia Dian Soleha and Astrid Echa. Rizky Amalia Dian Soleha and Astrid Echa who joined in one team succeeded in beating 5 other teams that participated in the competition for the traditional dance category in the regional championship.
The regional championship organized by IODI Yogyakarta Special Region in 2021 consists of several categories. This regional championship consists of 1 dance couple (boy girl & all girls), 2 dance couple (boy girl & all girls), FFA, synchronized standard / Latin, hiphop, breaking, traditional dance, and line dance. The organization of this regional championship is an effort to foster dance sport athletes in Yogyakarta.
The DIY Regional Championship was held online for one day on November 27, 2021. Prior to this regional championship, participants were asked to register themselves and participate in several workshops organized by IODI Yogyakarta Special Region. By organizing this workshop, participants will not only participate in the regional championship but also increase their competence.
IODI Yogyakarta Special Region is again organizing a championship online because in the last 3 years it has held several championships online. The organization of this online regional championship is based on the consideration that the pandemic has not yet ended. With the concept of organizing championships online, it provides an opportunity for dancers to continue to create and excel during the pandemic.
