Lecturer and Rector of ISI Yogyakarta for the 2010-2014 Period, the late Prof. Dr. A. M. Hermien Kusmayati, SST., S.U. and Alumni of the Fine Arts Study Program, Faculty of Fine Arts ISI Yogyakarta, Heri Pemad received the Cultural Award from the Governor of Yogyakarta in 2021 for the category of Art Preservationist or Performer. The two ISI Yogyakarta figures along with Bazis Magazine of Yogyakarta City, Sri Slamet Sumarwoto (Marwoto Kawer) from Yogyakarta City, Slamet Haryadi from Gunungkidul Regency, Hanung Bramantyo from Yogyakarta City, Jim Supangkat from Yogyakarta City and KMT. Projo Swasono from Bantul received the Cultural Award from the Governor of Yogyakarta in 2021. The award was given directly by the Governor of DIY, Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwono X, on November 18, 2021, at the Kepatihan Ward, DIY Governor's Office Complex. The Cultural Awards are divided into the categories of Art Preservationists and/or Performers, Performers or Customary Preservationists, Performers and/or preservationists of Cultural Heritage and Creators (Pioneers and / or Creators of Cultural Works) and Culturalists. For the category of Traditional Performers or Preservers, the recipients are the Association of Cultural Preservationists "Sekar Cempaka Mulya" from Gunungkidul, Trimo Rejo from Paliyan Gunungkidul, R. Sukaryono from Gamping Sleman, Bawoek Soemiyati from Berbah Sleman, the late Donolobo Dance from Yogyakarta City and Rudy Supriyadi from Pakualaman Yogyakarta City. Category of Cultural Heritage Performers and/or Preservers recipients: The owner of Ndalem Natan Building, Kotagede Yogyakarta, OSF Saint Yusuf Boro Monastery Building Kalibawang Kulon Progo, Village Hall Sidoluhur Godean Sleman, BOPKRI 1 Yogyakarta Junior High School Building, Main Building (Office) SMP N 1 Berbah Sleman, Traditional House Playen Gunungkidul, Pendopo Building Ex Office Karangtengah, Imogiri, Bantul and Indische Building Jl. Pantimura No.15 Yogyakarta. Meanwhile, two creators (pioneers or creators of cultural works) and cultural artists were awarded to Broto Wijayanto and Annabel The Gallop, respectively.
This Cultural Award is a form of awareness of the importance of preserving cultural heritage. This award is expected to improve the quality of our culture by giving a new spirit, an injection of new spirit to revive Yogyakarta as a City of Culture with its mission and cultural attributes. The Anugrah Kebudayaan award is an effort to develop cultural heritage without losing its spirit, especially for the younger generation.
The Yogyakarta Governor's Cultural Award is given annually. This award is expected to improve the quality of culture in the Special Region of Yogyakarta.
