Yogyakarta, April 6, 2026 — The Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta is holding its Campus Student Art Week as part of the selection process for candidates to represent the institution at the Regional Student Art Week (Peksimida) and National Student Art Week (Peksiminas) 2026. In this year's event, the photography competition is one of the arenas for competition held to identify the best students in the fields of visual arts and recording media.
With the theme “Art and Culture: Agents of Change, Strengthening and Impactful,” this activity affirms ISI Yogyakarta's commitment to positioning art not only as an aesthetic expression but also as an intellectual, social, and cultural force capable of contributing to society.
The photography competition in the ISI Yogyakarta Campus Student Art Week includes journalistic and documentary photography categories as well as fine art photography. These categories provide opportunities for students to showcase their ability to interpret reality, develop visual concepts, and present photographic works with narrative, artistic, and conceptual strength.

The selection activity was held at Ngasem Market in Yogyakarta. Choosing a public space as a photography location provides participants with the opportunity to interact directly with the social and cultural environment, as well as the dynamics of the community. Through this process, students are challenged to produce works that are not only technically strong but also sensitive to context and able to convey meaningful visual messages.
This selection is open to all active students of ISI Yogyakarta. Before the photo shoot begins, participants are required to attend a briefing with the committee. After that, participants will be given a maximum of three hours to take photos at the designated locations. Each participant must bring their own photography equipment, including a DSLR or mirrorless digital camera and other supporting devices.

In addition to the works created during the competition, the selection process also considers the participants' portfolios. These portfolios are compiled in PDF format and include personal data, work experience, and previous photographic works. Through this mechanism, the assessment not only focuses on the final outcome but also takes into account the participants' track record, consistency, and artistic potential.
Through the Student Art Week, ISI Yogyakarta continues to strengthen the student development ecosystem in the arts. This activity provides an important space for students to hone their creativity, courage to experiment, discipline in their work, and their ability to compete healthily at regional and national levels.
The organization of this selection is also part of ISI Yogyakarta's efforts to maintain the tradition of student artistic achievement. As an art higher education institution with strengths in art creation, study, and cultural development, ISI Yogyakarta encourages students to emerge as a creative generation capable of understanding the times, responding to societal issues, and making an impact through their artistic works.
From this activity, it is hoped that the best students will be selected who are capable of representing ISI Yogyakarta in Peksimida and Peksiminas 2026. These delegates are expected not only to carry the institution's name in the competition but also to show the quality of art education at ISI Yogyakarta, which continues to play a role in shaping creative, critical, adaptive, and impactful art professionals for Indonesian culture.
