DKV Study Program is Ready to Hold DKV Connect

Next December 11, Visual Communication Design Study Program, ISI Yogyakarta is ready to hold DKV Connect. DKV Connect is a program designed by the DKV study program as a form of academic accountability, as well as the peak moment of collaborative learning with partners.

The MBKM program has been running for four years (2020-2024) and Prodi DKV ISI Yogyakarta has actively participated in the implementation of the program. Departing from gap analysis data, as well as curriculum design with partners, the MBKM program that is carried out shows a positive trend and shows optimal learning relevance. In 2024, through the PKKM program (Merdeka Campus Competition Program), DKV Study Program has produced several academic documents for curriculum development with partners.

Through DKV Conncet, DKV Study Program will invite all partners and students involved in MBKM activities in the odd semester of 2024. This launch is intended as a form of appreciation as well as student accountability to partners and the community. The works produced by students will be used by partners and the community.

DKV Connect will also present Prof. Dr. Sri Suning Kusumawardani, S.T., M.T., as Director of Learning and Student Affairs of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology to explain the Strategic Form of MBKM Learning Activities.

Of the 9 partners (6 industry partners, 1 village, 1 non-higher education institution, and Ki Remeng Mangunjaya Wayang Beber Society) Ki Remeng Mangunjaya Society is a Wayang Beber Society in Wonosari, Gunung Kidul. There are 18 students who are active in wayang beber and produce various works for the purpose of preserving intangible cultural assets: Wayang Beber. Wayang Beber is an artifact of the heritage of the ancestors of the Indonesian people and one of the types of puppets that have developed long ago on the island of Java. Currently the existence of Wayang Beber in Indonesia only exists in two locations, namely in the Gelaran II Bejiharjo hamlet, Karangmojo, Wonosari Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta and in Karang Talun, Gedompol Pacitan, East Java.

Wayang Beber is also found in the Netherlands at the Volkenkunde Museum Steenstraat 1, 2312 BS Leiden. Wayang Beber in Leiden also tells the story of "Remeng Mangunjaya" just like the one in Wonosari.

If you look at the age of the puppets, many parts of the colors still look good, still adhere well to the surface of the Dluwang. And it seems that the care of these puppets is done well by the owners of Wayang Beber scrolls from generation to generation. Currently, the wonosari wayang beber is cared for by the 15th generation, namely, Wisto Utomo.

Later, DKV Study Program will bring directly the 15th heir of Wonosari Wayang Beber, Wisto Utomo and will hold a Wayang Beber performance using the original scroll (scroll in 1660).

In this case, DKV Study Program pays great attention to cultural conservation. Through the design of visual assets, it is hoped that it can make Wayang Beber Wonosari more sustainable and can attract the interest and attention of a wide audience. Moreover, Wayang Beber Wonosari is currently listed as an intangible world cultural heritage.

Not only the output work on wayang beber, the works of student learning in several partners will also be handed over to partners, such as the WIL X Cultural Preservation Center. D.I Yogyakarta, as well as to Wirokerten Village as a cultural pilot village.

Wirokerten Village (with UMY government science), dkv study program students collaborated in designing visual branding for Wirokerten cultural pilot village. In addition to activities in Wirokerten village, as many as 10 students worked at BPK WIL X D.I Yogyakarta to participate in the preservation of cultural values.

In addition to the launch and handover of works to partners, a closing event will be held: Wonosari Wayang Beber performance, with the 15th heir of Wonosari Wayang Beber, Wisto Utomo, directly invited.
