ISI Yogyakarta and Museum Benteng Vredeburg Organize Public Talk "Street Art to Fuel the Spirit of Revolution"

ISI Yogyakarta through the S1 Art Management Study Program in collaboration with the Vredeburg Fort Museum held a Public Talk "Street Art that Fuels the Spirit of Revolution". This public talk will be held online using the Zoom Meeting application, on March 16, 2022, at 13.00 to 15.00 WIB. To discuss the topic "Street Art that Fuels the Spirit of Revolution", speakers Oscar Motuloh (Photo Curator) and Aminudin T. H. Siregar, M.Sn. (Lecturer FSRD ITB) and moderator Satrio Dwicahyo, M.Sc., M.A. (Lecturer FIB UGM).
Who doesn't know the poster "Boeng, Ajo Boeng" during the independence revolution. The spirit of struggle of the artists was captured and actualized in the form of street art, such as posters, murals and billboards. The words "struggle" and "anti-Dutch" were crafted in such a way that they fueled the spirit of the revolution at that time.
The political challenges that artists have to face are an interesting phase in the development of street art. In fact, political diplomacy is not only about shooting and negotiations at the round table. The streets are transformed into a battleground that touches every audience's soul to join the struggle.
This public talk is a series of activities in the Collaborative Temporary Exhibition "Daulat & Ikhtiar" held during March at Museum Benteng Vredeburg. This public talk will attempt to describe how street art is able to ignite and energize the community.
