About Beksan Nyakrakusuma
Beksan Nyakrakusuma is a Yogyakarta style dance that was created during the reign of Sri Sultan Hamengkubuwana I. This dance belongs to the category beksan sekawananBecause it is danced by 4 dancers. Beksan Nyakrakusuma which uses the arrow property (jemparing) and keris, performed by 4 male dancers with the character type of alus impur male dance.
The theme of this dance is about heroism that tells the war between King Nyakrakusuma and King Mandrakusuma. This dance is a manifestation of Sri Sultan HB I towards his patriotic idol, Sultan Agung Hanyakrakusuma. In its realization, it is told in the Panji story, namely the story of Panji's journey from Kahuripan to find his kekaksih, Anggraini. Panji incarnates as King Nyakrakusuma who fights against Anggraeni who incarnates as King Mandrakusuma of Nusakencana country.
In the war, it is depicted that no one wins or loses. Beksan Nyakrakusuma was performed in 1920 in Yogyakarta and in Mangkunegaran Surakarta in order to enliven the wedding ceremony of KGPAA. Mangkunegara VII with the daughter of Sultan HB VII named KGR. Timur.
