The Pure Art Study Program is part of the Faculty of Fine Arts and Design ISI Yogyakarta which teaches fine arts whose creation is driven by conscience or spiritual needs that are subjective and not directly related to practical or functional needs. The educational goal of the Pure Art Department is to produce Pure Art graduates who have the qualifications to be able to express their artistic concepts and realize them into works of art, as well as being able to analyze various forms of pure art theoretically.

Painting, Sculpture, and Graphic Arts are the leading fields of expertise in art education since academic education was established under the name ASRI which was formed in 1950 in Yogyakarta. The creative results of art creation produced by ASRI students have made a real contribution to the development of national art, especially in the field of fine arts.

The Department of Fine Arts develops and implements fine arts education with national and international insight through an ideal study process both in the fields of creation and study.

Career Outlook

The Pure Art Study Program produces Bachelor of Pure Art in the field of Creation and Assessment with the following qualifications:

  • Philosophically, graduates have cultural insight, are able to live, practice, and implement their abilities in the discourse of fine arts in general, and fine arts in particular.
  • Mastering the basics and applications of science and technology that support the development of their specialization and able to formulate various problems of fine arts conceptually, systematically and methodically.
  • Have creative and professional abilities in the creation and study of fine arts; and be able to implement, manage and create opportunities for their profession/works, independently or in collaboration with various fields/other parties in the national and international community, in order to anticipate globalization.
  • Having a profession as a practitioner in other fine arts fields that are still in the same flow with his major in accordance with his study orientation so that it becomes a synergy with his abilities.

The educational objective of the Fine Arts Study Program is to produce graduates who are able to appreciate and introduce national cultural values and be able to respond to cultural symptoms in general that are closely related to the field studied, for the development of their personality and insight. Mastering the scientific basics and being able to analyze and solve problems in the field of fine arts in general and the field of expertise in particular. Able to create and develop works of art in interaction with the development of science and technology. Able to develop and apply knowledge and skills in the field of fine arts for the benefit of society. The Department of Fine Arts organizes Painting, Sculpture & Graphic study programs.
