Yogyakarta, May 5, 2026 — The Indonesian Institute of the Arts (ISI) Yogyakarta is opening an opportunity for active students to participate in the Open Call: International Art Exhibition “Ways of Seeing,” an international art exhibition showcasing photography, film, and animation as media for critical readings of contemporary visual realities.
This program is organized as a collaboration between Project Eleven and ISI Yogyakarta to expand the space for student work presentations to an international level. Through the theme “Ways of Seeing,” this exhibition invites students to present not only aesthetically pleasing visual works but also works that have ideas, perspectives, and critical reflections on how humans see, interpret, and respond to the world around them.
Rector of ISI Yogyakarta, Dr. Irwandi, S.Sn., M.Sn., conveyed that this activity is an important part of ISI Yogyakarta's efforts to strengthen the academic and artistic ecosystem oriented towards global reputation.
“ISI Yogyakarta continues to encourage students to participate in broader art spaces, including international forums and exhibitions. This open call is not only an opportunity to showcase work, but also a space to prove that ISI Yogyakarta students have the capacity for ideas, artistic skills, and visual sensitivity that can compete globally,” said the Rector.
This exhibition is open to photographic, film, and animation works created by active students of ISI Yogyakarta. Submitted works must be recent, with the condition that they were created in 2024 at the earliest. Through these categories, students are given space to express a diversity of artistic approaches, from exploring photographic imagery, cinematic language, to the visual possibilities within animation.
The presence of this program also strengthens ISI Yogyakarta's position as an art higher education institution that not only focuses on education and creative works but also actively builds collaborative networks, opens access to international presentations, and strengthens the bargaining power of Indonesian art in global discourse.
The schedule for the open call is as follows: the registration deadline is May 31, 2026, the selection results will be announced on June 3, 2026, the submission deadline for works is June 5, 2026, and the exhibition will be held from June 20–27, 2026.
