ISI Yogyakarta Strengthens Student AI Literacy through the AI Ready ASEAN-MAFINDO 2026 International Program

YOGYAKARTA-Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta reaffirmed its commitment as a campus that is adaptive to technological developments through the implementation of AI Ready ASEAN-MAFINDO for Students, which was held Thursday, February 12, 2026 at the Concert Hall ISI Yogyakarta. This program is intended specifically for ISI Yogyakarta students to improve literacy and basic skills of artificial intelligence (AI) relevant to the world of education and the creative industry.
The event was opened with remarks from the Chairman of the MAFINDO Presidium, Septiaji Eko Nugroho, who emphasized the importance of AI literacy and critical thinking skills amid the swift flow of digital information. On this occasion, Septiaji also invited students to utilize AI productively while remaining vigilant about the risks of misinformation, bias, and ethical aspects in the use of technology.


The training was officially opened by Dr. Muh. Kholid Arif Rozaq, S.Hut., M.M., who said that strengthening AI capacity for art students is a strategic step to encourage innovation, increase competitiveness, and present impactful creative works. The presence of faculty leaders also strengthened institutional support, marked by the presence of deans and vice deans at ISI Yogyakarta.
The learning sessions were guided by trainers who facilitated the material in an applicable and interactive manner, namely Kak Vida, Kak Andreas, and Kak Ashhab. The materials presented included an introduction to AI in education, the use of AI for creative learning, AI ethics and security, and simple practices of using AI that can be directly applied in academic contexts and work production.


The program was also coordinated by the Program Manager, Kak Violita, who ensured that the training was structured, starting from the introduction of the material, practice, discussion, and evaluation of participants' understanding. In addition to enriching insights, participants received additional benefits in the form of international certificates, as well as various appreciation such as internet vouchers, merchandise, and door prizes.
Through the AI Ready ASEAN-MAFINDO for Students training, ISI Yogyakarta emphasizes its role in building a learning ecosystem that is responsive to the digital era. This program is expected to not only increase student competence in understanding AI, but also foster a culture of responsible, creative, and impactful use of technology for society.
