Regional AI Ready ASEAN-MAFINDO Collaboration Held at ISI Yogyakarta, Strengthening Campus AI Literacy

Yogyakarta - Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta strengthens the role of “Impact Campus” through ASEAN-MAFINDO's AI Ready training for lecturers and education staff. This activity emphasizes ISI Yogyakarta's commitment to bring real impact - from improving the quality of learning, strengthening digital literacy, to the ethical and responsible use of AI in the campus environment.

The training is scheduled to take place on Tuesday, February 3, 2026 starting at 08.00 WIB at Ajiyasa Building 2nd Floor, Faculty of Fine Arts and Design (FSRD) ISI Yogyakarta. This program encourages educators to be able to use AI productively for teaching, preparing teaching materials, and developing more adaptive learning methods.

The event featured elements of national and regional collaboration. The AI Ready ASEAN program in Indonesia is supported by MAFINDO, and is part of an initiative involving the ASEAN Foundation with support from Google.org. Through this training, ISI Yogyakarta takes a strategic position as an arts campus that is not only creative, but also ready to face technological transformation in education.

The series of events included registration, pre-assessment, opening, and material and practice sessions that emphasized basic AI skills for educators. Participants were also directed to utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) as a means of continuous learning, so that the impact of the training does not stop at one day of activities, but continues to be applied in the classroom and academic ecosystem.

Opening remarks were scheduled to be delivered by MAFINDO Presidium Chair Septiaji Eko Nugroho and ISI Yogyakarta Rector Dr. Irwandi, M.Sn.. The training materials were guided by the trainers (Arya, Fitria, and Erwina) with discussion and practice sessions so that participants could directly apply the understanding gained.

In substance, the training emphasized four key points: basic understanding of AI, how to use and implement AI, ethics-privacy-security, and teaching strategies about AI. This focus is in line with the spirit of “Campus Impact”, as strong and ethical AI competencies will directly contribute to the quality of educational services, graduate readiness, and the ability of the campus to adapt to the needs of society and the creative industry.

Through this activity, ISI Yogyakarta asserts itself as a future-ready art campus - strengthening the literacy of AI educators, maintaining the ethics of its utilization, and ensuring that technology truly benefits the teaching and learning process and institutional progress.
