Through MTN AsahBakat-EdiTour INAFEd 2025, ISI Yogyakarta Delivers Real Impact to the Film Industry

Yogyakarta 30 December 2025 - Institut Seni Indonesia Yogyakarta through the Faculty of Recording Media Arts (FSMR) held a Film Editing Workshop as part of efforts to strengthen student competence in the field of audiovisual production. This activity is designed to deepen the technical and artistic understanding of the film post-production process, as well as to answer the growing needs of the creative industry.

EDITour INAFEd 2025 presents INAFEd member editor resource persons, namelySastha Sunu, editor of more than 60 films with 5 best editor awards at national and regional events, as well as film competency assessor, Wawan I. Wibowo, a film editor with experience in editing more than 100 feature films with four FFI Citra Cup awards as Best Picture Editor. He is also currently listed as the Chairman of the Indonesian Film Editors Association (INAFED) for the period 2023-2028, and Kelvin Nugroho, editor of more than 55 films and has won 3 Citra Cup awards as the best editor at the FFI and once at the Maya Cup. Acting as moderator was Citra Cup-winning senior editor and former chairman of INAFEd, Arturo GP.

Participants received material ranging from an introduction to editing workflows, footage management, visual rhythm arrangement, to an emphasis on narrative aspects so that the film's message is conveyed effectively. In addition to material exposure, practical sessions are an important portion so that students can directly hone their skills using editing software.

This activity was attended by students across study programs in the FSMR ISI Yogyakarta environment. The enthusiasm of the participants can be seen from their active involvement during discussions and practices, including when dissecting work examples and discussing the challenges that are often faced in the editing process.

Through this workshop, ISI Yogyakarta emphasizes its commitment to presenting contextual learning that is in line with the needs of the professional world. Strengthening student capacity is expected to not only improve the quality of academic work, but also expand the readiness of graduates to take part in the film industry and creative media more competitively.

Going forward, ISI Yogyakarta continues to encourage collaborations and similar activities as a sustainable learning space, in order to strengthen an adaptive, innovative and impactful art education ecosystem for the community.
