ISI Yogyakarta, November 6, 2025 - The Postgraduate Program of Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta will organize Academic Writing Workshop themed "Curatorial Manuscript & Artist Portfolio” on Friday, November 28, 2025, at the Multimedia Room, ISI Yogyakarta Postgraduate Campus, at 08.00-16.00 WIB.
This activity presented two competent speakers in the field of art and curatorial, namely Alia Swastika, art curator and Director of Biennale Jogja Foundation, and Irene Agrivina, artist and founder of HONF (House of Natural Fiber).
This workshop is designed as an effort to strengthen the capacity of graduate students in understanding and practicing academic writing in the field of art in a reflective, critical, and contextual manner. Through this activity, participants are expected to develop skills in writing curatorial papers and artist portfolios that are not only strong in academic substance, but also relevant to the contemporary art ecosystem.
Academic writing activities, especially those related to the fields of visual arts, performance, and curatorial studies, still do not receive adequate attention in the campus environment. Graduate students often face obstacles in writing academic works that are insightful and contextual, especially due to their lack of knowledge about the system and ecosystem of contemporary art-both in the realm of exhibitions, performances, and other artistic practices. In fact, the ability to write reflective and critical academic writing is very important, such as the preparation of artist portfolios, curatorial writings, as an effort to increase reputation. This workshop was organized as an effort to strengthen the capacity of students in understanding and practicing academic writing in the field of art more comprehensively, creatively, and contextually.
“In fact, the ability to write reflective and critical academic works is very important, both for the development of artist portfolios, the preparation of curatorial writings, and the improvement of academic reputation,” explained the introduction to the activity.
This workshop is open exclusively to all students of the ISI Yogyakarta Postgraduate Program, with a deadline for registration on November 25, 2025.
