Eki Satria, a lecturer in the Music Study Program, Faculty of Performing Arts, Institut Seni Indonesia (ISI) Yogyakarta, has made another proud achievement in the national arena. On the 80th Anniversary of the Independence of the Republic of Indonesia at the Merdeka Palace Jakarta, August 17, 2025, he was trusted to be the conductor of Gita Bahana Nusantara (GBN), Indonesia's pride choir and orchestra.
Gita Bahana Nusantara itself is a collaboration of the best young talents from all provinces who annually perform in front of the President, Vice President, state officials, and invited guests at state ceremonies. The presence of Eki Satria as conductor symbolizes the real contribution of ISI Yogyakarta academics in making the world of Indonesian music proud. In other words, ISI Yogyakarta academics are able to have a direct impact on society through their artistic competence.
The Rector of ISI Yogyakarta, Dr. Irwandi, M.Sn. expressed his high appreciation for this achievement, emphasizing that Eki Satria's success is clear evidence of the role of art universities in producing professional musicians who take part at the national and international levels. Hopefully Eki Satria's achievement can motivate ISI Yogyakarta lecturers and students to continue to excel and make a real contribution to society.
