Muhammad Fikri Hanafi, a student of the Interior Design Study Program, Faculty of Art and Design ISI Yogyakarta, won the bronze award at the Grand Final of the Asian Young Designer Award (AYDA). The final of the prestigious competition for young designers in the field of architecture and interior design was held on Wednesday, January 22, 2025 at Ashley Hotel, Central Jakarta. AYDA is an international competition organized by paint company Nippon Paint in collaboration with architecture and interior design industry professionals. This competition is a platform that can develop the capabilities of young designers while building networks so that they can compete at the global level.
AYDA is a competition that is held annually and in 2025 carries the theme "Converge: Glocal Design Solutions." This year's theme focuses on young designers' responses to new trends and global issues. Designers are encouraged to explore perspectives in addressing emerging issues and trends from a variety of views, apply more open-minded thinking, and create designs that are sustainable and can withstand unpredictable human growth and an unpredictable future.
At AYDA 2025, Muhammad Fikri Hanafi made it to the top 5 finalists in the interior design category and eventually won the bronze award. Muhammad Fikri Hanafi competed with 300 interior design and architecture students from many universities in the country. In this competition, Muhammad Fikri Hanafi raised the title Bintaran Elderly Care which tried to respond to global issues related to elderly-friendly villages in Yogyakarta. The Interior Design Study Program continues to strive to produce excellent graduates and work internationally by encouraging lecturers and students to participate in competitions at the international level.
