Organology, acoustics and musical creativity are intertwined in creating a distinctive musical experience in gamelan. Organology provides the basis of the instruments used to produce sound. Acoustics explains how sound is produced and arranged in harmony, and how the resonances of each instrument can complement each other.Musical creativity allows for the alteration and development of tradition in new ways, whether through improvisation in playing or the incorporation of new techniques in composition. Through an in-depth understanding of these three aspects at the seminar, it is hoped that gamelan can continue to develop as a vibrant part of art and culture, while maintaining its traditional roots.
International Jogjakarfest is an annual event organized by the Department of Karawitan FSP ISI Yogyakarta. International Jogjakarfest consists of two main activities, namely conferences or seminars and musical performances. This activity is held to continue to promote the art of karawitan to the public so that this traditional art continues to be preserved.
